The Green Team: Ultramarathon in the Amazon
Which Animal of the Amazon Are You?

The Amazon is home to more than 4,000 types of animals and over 40,000 species of plants. Here are just a few of the candidates for the most bizarre creature there: The candiru – or toothpick fish – a parasite that sometimes worms its way into human urethras. The basilisk, also known as the Jesus Christ lizard owing to its ability to walk on water. And the arowana, a fish measuring 1.2 meters that leaps out of the water to prey on birds. If Friedhelm Weidemann were an Amazon animal, he would probably be a jaguar: fit, fleet of foot, not afraid of water, and not picky about what he eats. Or a piranha: quick as lightning, efficient, and resilient. In any case, definitely not a sloth.
